We work with
the best in the market.

As an independent broker, we're not tied to any single insurer. That means we can place your risk with whoever is right for you — not whoever pays us the most.

Understanding Ratings

What do insurer ratings mean
and why do they matter?

When you take out an insurance policy, you're relying on that insurer to pay your claim — potentially years in the future. Financial strength ratings tell you how confident you can be that the insurer will still be there, and still be able to pay, when that moment comes.

AA / A+ AM Best / S&P

Exceptional Financial Strength

The highest ratings awarded to insurance companies. Insurers at this level have an exceptional ability to meet their financial obligations. Chubb, Allianz and Zurich sit at this tier. This is where we place the majority of our clients' cover.

A AM Best / S&P

Excellent Financial Strength

An A rating still represents an excellent ability to meet financial obligations. Most major UK insurers sit at A-rated or above. Aviva, Hiscox and Markel are all A-rated. Clients should be confident placing cover with any A-rated insurer.

B++ / NR AM Best

Good / Unrated

B++ is still considered a good rating and many specialist insurers operate here. Some niche insurers are unrated — not because they're weak, but because they haven't sought a rating. We only use these for specialist risks where no A-rated alternative exists.

💡

A note on rating agencies: The two most widely referenced agencies in the UK insurance market are AM Best (which specialises exclusively in insurance) and S&P Global Ratings. Where both ratings exist for an insurer, we reference the higher of the two. Ratings are updated periodically — always check the agency's website for current ratings. Check AM Best ratings →

Why It Matters

Independent means
unbiased advice.

Tied agents and bancassurance models can only offer you one insurer's products. As an independent broker, we have no obligation to any single insurer — and that independence is worth a great deal to our clients.

When we place your risk, we're choosing from the whole market. The insurer that wins your business is the one that's best suited to your risk profile — not the one with the best commission arrangement.

🏆

Access to the whole market

16+ direct insurer relationships plus Lloyd's and specialist MGA access means more options and better outcomes for clients.

🔍

We know which insurers want your risk

Not all insurers want all risks. We know who has appetite for your sector — and that knowledge saves time and gets better terms.

📋

Policy wording matters as much as price

We read the small print so you don't have to. Different insurers use different wording — we choose the one that covers you properly.

🤝

We fight for you at claim time

Our relationships with insurers mean we can escalate claims, challenge decisions, and advocate for a fair outcome when it matters most.
